Q&A With Brandon Whitley
- What inspired you to volunteer and now take the role of board chair?
“The mission of protecting and promoting the well-being of children is one that is close to my heart. It’s truly an honor to be part of an organization that has positively impacted thousands of families over the last 130 years.”
- Why is volunteering important to you?
“I think it has many benefits, both personally and societally. Personally, it’s fulfilling to give back and know that you’re making a difference in someone’s life. It also helps give me a broader perspective of the issues in our community and greater appreciation for others.”
- Tell us a bit more about yourself.
“I’m a lifelong Wichitan. I am a graduate of Kansas State University, where I received a degree in Finance. I am a Vice President with the IMA Financial Group, where I spend much of his time consulting within the nonprofit sector, helping organizations optimize their insurance and risk management programs. My wife, Terri, and I have seven children. With seven kids, I don’t have much spare time. Several of my kids race competitive motocross, so we find ourselves at the track most weekends. When not at the track, I enjoy working on projects around the house.”
- Finally, is there anything you would like to say to supporters of KCSL as you step into this new role?
“To the volunteers, donors and supporters, KCSL couldn’t do the work that we do without your support. Every year, KCSL makes a positive impact on thousands of children and families across Kansas, creating Stronger, Happier Families. Your generosity is vital to KCSL’s mission.”
