Kansas has a history of caring for its children. The State passed its first adoption laws in 1863, just two years after statehood. Kansas Children’s Service League was founded in 1893 to help orphaned and abandoned children find a nurturing home. Through the years, we have worked with the Legislature and Kansas communities on adoption, foster care, home visitation, prevention of child abuse, early childhood education and many other issues impacting the well-being of our Kansas kids.

Throughout the Legislative Session, we will periodically update the information on this site regarding legislative proposals, activities and initiatives that we believe matter to children and families. If you have questions, concerns or need additional information, please feel free to contact KCSL President & CEO Dona Booe at 785-608-5553, 785-215-6444 or dbooe@kcsl.org; or KCSL Legislative Liaison Jennie Rose at 785-554-0850 or jennieadamsrose@yahoo.com.
