5 Easy Steps
  1. Contact KCSL and request an information packet on becoming a foster family. The information packet will contain information that explains the process of becoming a foster parent and will answer some basic questions.

  2. A KCSL Family Service Representative will contact you and will be available to answer any questions and assist in the licensing process if you decide to move forward.

  3. The next step will be to fill out a foster parent application and enroll in a PS-MAPP class .The class will help you make informed decisions about foster care.

  4. The KDHE (Kansas Department of Health and Environment) family application process will be started. During this time, your KCSL Family Service Representative will be introducing you to your KCSL Family Social Worker, who will also be available to assist you in the application process.

  5. Following successful completion of the family assessment and KDHE application process, you will be a licensed foster family. Your KCSL Family Social Worker will contact you when a child becomes available that fits with your family.
