On Sept. 27-28, hundreds of parent participants and children from around the state gathered for the Parent Leadership Conference at the Ramada by Wyndham Topeka Downtown Hotel & Convention Center in Topeka, KS. The conference offered breakout sessions on various topics and featured a youth track for ages 12-17. Workshop topics included positive childhood experiences, mental health, advocacy and healthy child development. Janae Moss, co-founder of Parents Driving Change, delivered the keynote address on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The Parent Leadership Conference strives to provide an atmosphere of personal growth, networking, and skills building. The conference brings national speakers as well as statewide experts to collaborate with parents on issues that are important to families. This provides a unique opportunity for parents to network as well as educate professionals. We believe strongly in parent/practitioner partnerships and encourages parents to participate as presenters and co-presenters in all workshops.
