Building Healthy Families Tour - Wichita

Building Healthy Families (BHF) mission tours guide visitors through the programs and services KCSL provides to help prevent child abuse, strengthen families and empower parents and youth. Unlike a building tour, BHF tours provide an intimate setting for visitors to not only engage with KCSL but also discover simple ways they can help spread awareness of KCSL’s mission, such as inviting a friend to a tour or referring a family to KCSL services. Family Empowerment | Parenting Group

K-PARC Volunteer Training

Additional Information: Want to directly impact children in your community? Kansas Post Adoption Resource Center (K-PARC) needs volunteers to guide foster and adopted children in Kids Club* using skills that lead to healthier behaviors and family relationships. Volunteers are matched with one child each. || This is a 10-week volunteer commitment following the three-hour training on Feb. 3. If you're interested in mentoring a child, please contact Clairissa Maddy at 316.942.4261 x1357 or cmaddy@kcsl.org. NOTE: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, agree to a background check and sign a confidentiality statement. || *K-PARC offers Parents Circle, a 10-week intensive parenting skill development program designed to meet the unique and diverse needs of children who are in foster care, have been adopted or exhibit difficulty in the area of attachment. While adults attend Parents Circle, their children attend Kids Club to learn the same skills as parents.

Additional Information: Parents who have adopted children from Kansas foster care or current foster parents planning to adopt, join us each Tuesday for Parents Circle! Kansas Post Adoption Resource Center’s (K-PARC) Parents Circle is a FREE, relationship and parent education program with content heavily influenced by Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®). Children 12 and under can attend Kids Club at the same time. They will be paired with an adult buddy and learn the same skills as their parents learn in Parents Circle.
