A Message from Gail
Hello Friends,
February is National Parent Leadership Month, a time to amplify the importance of parents’ voices and leadership. Through parent leadership, parents gain the skills, confidence and support needed to take an active role in their families, peer networks and communities. When parents and caregivers are engaged and empowered, they strengthen their ability to foster environments that nurture stronger families and thriving communities.
Empowerment through Community Involvement
Parents increase their capacity to advocate for themselves and others when they participate in support groups, board meetings, parent cafés and shared leadership opportunities. In these collaborative spaces, they develop skills to support their family’s growth and stability. Additionally, connections are made between other families and service professionals. These relationships give parents and caregivers an active voice in community decision-making creating accessible environments where children can feel safe.
Recognizing Parents as Leaders
At Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL), we are dedicated to helping parents grow as influential leaders. Together, we can support parent leaders by sharing knowledge, offering resources and amplifying their voices in collaborative spaces. Let’s recognize and uplift them by celebrating their contributions and standing alongside them in their journey.
How KCSL Encourages Parent Leadership
KCSL helps build stronger families by supporting parents to be their best. We believe that stronger families start at the foundation through parent involvement. As the Kansas chapter of Circle of Parents®, KCSL provides support, guidance and resources through parent-led groups.
Let Parent Leadership Month be a reminder of the powerful role parents play as leaders in their homes and neighborhoods. Caregivers inspire positive change around them, helping to shape and guide the next generation of leaders. When parents thrive as leaders, entire communities benefit, so let’s celebrate their role in building brighter futures.
Sincerely,
